As one of the world’s leading airport company, our client owns and operates a number of airports. These airports handle hundreds of millions of passengers every year, with many hundreds of aircraft departing every day.

Print Management and Collaborative Workflow System (CWS).

The brief

The tender process comprised eleven heading which the successful tenderer had to address:

• Price
• Lead times and reliability
• Quality
• Innovations in technology (production, presses, proofing, turnaround and materials)
• Environmental criteria
• Supporting the growth and development of the client
• Demonstrating support of the local communities (i.e. within 20 miles of client airports)
• Ensuring best prices
• Timely delivery on all aspects of service
• High levels of customer service through a dedicated account team and on-site Manager
• Establishing an asset management system for standard items, using client corporate colours and brand guidelines

The solution

We were awarded the contract because, in the words of the client's Supply Chain Manager, “In a nutshell it was getting the balance between the experience, the technology and the ability to interact with the company on a human scale. We’re looking at a cost saving of 15% against an annual spend of £2.5million, which is substantial; and improved product quality and customer service that our internal stakeholders get from this solution.” 

Project scope:

We work collaboratively with other our client's suppliers, such as their roster of design and marketing agencies, and their appointed distribution and logistics providers. We also have to ensure that any of our suppliers going onsite to install graphics or carry out desk deliveries within the airports has the requisite security clearance. Since being awarded the contract we have exceeded the savings that we initially forecast in our tender proposal. We have also instigated a number of further cost-saving initiatives, as our knowledge of the account has developed. We are working with our client on a daily basis to help them achieve their environmental and sustainability targets, and ensure that they contribute positively to the communities that surround the airports.
